Assessment of the impacts of the designation of Creative City and Creative Tourism as a factor of innovation and development in the municipality of Barcelos

Resumo
O turismo tem contribuído para o desenvolvimento das cidades e dos territórios criativos. Através desta premissa, um dos objetivos passa por abordar quais são os impactes (nas principais dimensões) da designação, em 2017 pela UNESCO, da Cidade Criativa de Barcelos e propor novas atividades criativas tendo subjacente o segmento do Turismo Criativo. Em termos metodológicos a investigação será desenvolvida tendo em conta uma abordagem de tipo misto, usando fontes primárias e secundárias. Um aspeto inovador, será a criação de um Conselho Consultivo desde o início do Projeto, que permitirá contribuir, de forma mais sustentada, para o atingir dos objetivos delineados e para um planeamento mais participativo e colaborativo. Prevê-se a elaboração de um plano de atuação de curto e médio prazo que esteja alinhado com as políticas nacionais, regionais e com os Objetivos 5, 8 e 11 da Agenda 2030 da ONU para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, que visam "Promover o crescimento económico inclusivo e sustentável, o emprego pleno e produtivo e o trabalho digno para todos" e "Tornar as cidades e comunidades inclusivas, seguras, resilientes e sustentáveis".
Bio
Cátia Faria é estudante de doutoramento em Geografia Humana na Universidade do Minho, bolseira de investigação pela Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) e membro do Laboratório de Paisagens, Património e Território – Lab2PT, da Universidade do Minho. Concluiu a licenciatura em Geografia e Planeamento pela mesma universidade em 2018 e o mestrado em Geografia, na área de Planeamento e Gestão Territorial também pela mesma instituição, em 2021. Foi com a dissertação de mestrado que venceu o prémio da Associação Portuguesa de Geógrafos pela melhor Dissertação de Mestrado em Geografia da Universidade do Minho, cujo tema foi sobre o Caminho Português de Santiago em Barcelos.
Abstract
Tourism has contributed to the development of cities and creative territories. Through this premise, one of the objectives is to address the impacts (in the main dimensions) of the designation, in 2017 by UNESCO, of the Creative City of Barcelos and to propose new creative activities based on the Creative Tourism segment. In methodological terms, the research will be developed taking into account a mixed approach, using primary and secondary sources. An innovative aspect will be the creation of an Advisory Board from the beginning of the Project, which will make it possible to contribute, in a more sustained way, to achieving the outlined objectives and to more participatory and collaborative planning. It is planned to draw up a short and medium-term action plan that is aligned with national and regional policies and with Goals 5, 8 and 11 of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aim to "Promote economic growth inclusive and sustainable, full and productive employment and decent work for all" and "Making cities and communities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable".

Cátia Faria is a PhD student in Human Geography at the University of Minho, a research fellow from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and member of the Landscapes, Heritage and Territory Laboratory – Lab2PT, at the University of Minho. He completed his degree in Geography and Planning from the same university in 2018 and his master's degree in Geography, in the area of Territorial Planning and Management, also from the same institution, in 2021. It was with his master's thesis that he won the award from the Portuguese Association of Geographers for the best Master's Dissertation in Geography from the University of Minho, whose theme was on the Portuguese Camino de Santiago in Barcelos.
